Intraspectus, LLC

Downloadable biography:

Jeffrey Kerekes, a licensed psychotherapist, brings good humor and compassion to his work with individuals, couples and families. Jeffrey is recognized among colleagues as a skilled clinician, hard working, approachable, capable and caring drawing from a breadth of experiences including two years in a psychiatric emergency room working with individuals and families at all levels of crisis both in the ER and in the community.

Jeffrey's approach to affecting social change works both on the individual level and wider-scale projects to make a better community. This commitment was fueled early during many volunteer projects and in formal education. Jeffrey earned his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Education from a non-traditional traveling college program called the Audubon Expedition Institute. This unique program focuses on developing students into agents of social change through detailed and experiential exploration of complex issues such as old growth logging in the Pacific Northwest to environmental racism in New Mexico. These adventures grounded Jeffrey with the realization that social change takes time, courage and devotion.

Intraspectus, LLC is the formal structure by which Jeffrey works to address personal and family problems. One important initiative of Intraspectus is the return of the practitioner to the home on a "house calls" basis acting as a consultant/advisor to address discord, substance abuse, stress, loss, and other concerns while drawing on the strengths inherent in the family. Additionally, there is a private practice component focusing on individuals and couples serving clients both in an office or on a mobile basis.

Understanding the important role that money and money related issues play in the lives of his clients, Jeffrey became a personal finance advocate and creator of the online version of FI-MA (www.fi-ma.org), a grassroots volunteer run resource for aligning consumers money with their values. On discussing financial matters, Jeffrey has appeared on such programs as WBIX Boston "Dollars & Sense", WAQY Springfield "Say What," as well as publications like the Improper Bostonian, Boulder's Daily Camera and a Japanese environmental magazine.

A member of the National Association of Social Workers, Jeffrey has gained solid real-world experience in a variety of professional settings including the training grounds of both Yale and Harvard Medical Schools. Jeffrey also holds a Master of Science in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University.
